Haraldskær Engstien and Skovturen 🌲
This week, I want to share the hikes that we probably did the most during the pandemic: Haraldskær Engstien and Skovturen. These are the trails we keep coming back to, and for good reason!
The Engstien (1,5 km) hike is perfect for a quick adventure. It’s an easy trail for an hour or less (depending on the pace). The hike is beautiful, and there’s always something to explore. The bridge makes crossing the river simple, and we love stopping at the picnic area by the bridge for a snack break. 🍎
One of my favorite things about this hike is the view of the Haraldskær Sinatur Hotel and the gorgeous Vejle River Valley. If you come here at the end of summer, you’ll find the trail lined with delicious blackberries. We have so much fun picking them and snacking as we go.
Skovturen (5 km) is a longer trail through interesting forest terrain. It says here that you may also spot deer, but we have never been lucky enough to see them. Wear waterproof shoes during the wetter months (autumn and spring), as parts of the trail can get muddy.
All in all, Haraldskær Engstien and Skovturen trails offer a simple, peaceful way to reconnect with nature, and I hope you’ll love it as much as we do.
Additional info: The trails are listed as Trail 2 and Trail 3 in this guide. Parking is close to the trail start.
🍽️ Recipe of the week
The Ultimate Turkey Salad 🥗
Whether you’re looking to use up leftover turkey or want a quick and satisfying meal, this salad is perfect. I’ve tried other versions, but this one stands out - it’s fresh, flavorful, and incredibly versatile. Leftover chicken or duck also works well in this recipe. Pair it with bread or serve it on its own. 🥖
